Taqueria Don Jose
About This Spot
Step inside Taqueria Don Jose and you immediately sense its humble charm — a small, unpretentious spot that feels like a treasured neighborhood secret tucked just off the main thoroughfare in Perris. The space is modest, with a little dated seating area that invites a casual, come-as-you-are kind of vibe. It’s a place where the focus is truly on what’s coming out of the kitchen and the familiar rhythm of a kitchen that knows its craft well.
There’s a steady, welcoming pace here. The team works quickly, with attentive service that strikes a nice balance between personable and efficient, making you feel seen even during the lunch or dinner rush. It’s easy to imagine this being a stop for local families, folks on their way home from work, or anyone craving that comforting, authentic bite that reminds you of the streets of Mexico.
The essence of Taqueria Don Jose lives in its straightforward dedication to good Mexican fare. From the al pastor tacos — rich and vibrant — to the slow-cooked barbacoa and the inviting warmth of menudo served daily, every dish is a quiet statement of tradition and care. The salsa has a lively kick that pairs perfectly with the wet burritos’ deep, smoky red sauce, making each bite feel like a small celebration of flavors and textures. Portions are moderate, leaving room to savor each mouthful without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
What stands out beyond the food here is the human moment: the familiar smiles behind the counter, the quick nods of recognition to repeat visitors, and the steady hum of conversation layered over the clinking of plates. It’s a spot that feels alive not because it tries to be, but because it quietly centers around genuine food and genuine people.
In a town where culinary stories often get polished and styled, Taqueria Don Jose opts to keep things real — a rare and comforting haven for those looking to sink into a meal that feels like home, however briefly, as the world rushes by outside.

Great tacos. Well made good service large mane. Menudo 7 days a week. Good prices. Small dated seating area but the great food makes up for it. If you are near Perris Blvd and Romona, stop by and try one of the best tacos pastor i've evet had.

I have visited this place a couple times, I had menudo the first time and tacos the next. Tacos = good Menudo = really good The prices aren't sky high but the portions aren't the biggest either. The people working there are very attentive and the service is A+
